Samuel turned three yesterday and the day didn't end for him until 10:30 last night, thanks to all the cake and ice cream! We spent most of the day day just as a family at home, then we headed to Red Robin at 4 for dinner (well, Samuel ate fries, a couple of spaghetti noodles, and an ice cream sundae, which he kindly shared with Wes), then to our house for my homemade carrot cake. I've made the carrot cake for Samuel every year and it just occured to me that I have never let him choose his cake flavor, opting instead to follow the tradition of the previous year. Oh well, I have a thing for him getting his veggies....
The picture of my brother John, his daughter, Elizabeth and Samuel are of a drawn out tickling contest. John ended up in tears from laughing so hard. Samuel ended the night with Colin and my gift to him - a set of Tinker Toys! The boys built a tractor and then called it a night. So here we are today, Colin headed off to work for 2 days and the boys and I recovering from too much sugar and too little sleep. And no more PBS Kids for us, as we decided to cancel our satellite service. We'll see how long we can make it w/out TV....
