Camping at Promitory Park

I have a confession - I don't love camping. However, I am married to someone who feels camping is a part of growing up and it's just what you do in the summer.  I agreed to go overnight to Promitory Park in Estacada a couple of days ago. My kids enjoyed the trip - mostly the hot chocolate and marshmallows. Warning - I took lots of photos and am posting every single one of them.

We fished off the dock and Boss was very busy.

Boss loved hanging by the food and eating enormous portions.

On the dock - see Boss' forehead? He has a habit of scratching it all the time.

Boss was so interested in the fish!

Marshmallow time!

Colin heated up beans and rice for dinner.

The kids roasted their own marshmallows.

Colin drove the boat to a good fishing spot.

Lunch - the fish the kids caught! And hotdogs.

Colin set up the fishing lines.

More marshmallow time!

Sissy loves her dad.

Jude thinks this is his picture face.

Jude was more interested in the tackle box than fishing itself.

He caught a fish!

The kids hung onto the boat while Colin got the truck back down.

I love this picture - it just captures Jude so accurately.

I also love this picture - Jude is busy and Boss is still in his reverie over marshmallow time.

Samuel is setting up his line.

The boat ride was nuts with tired, hungry kids.

Sissy managed to sneak a few extra marshmallows.

Too cool for school.

You can tell she is raised by boys - she loved playing with the worms.

I wish I understood the appeal of camping. I really do. Maybe someday I will be enlightened...
