December Daily - Day 15

I knew today I wanted to take a stab at taking a Christmas tree bokeh picture. It was actually very easy. I just did it when it was early morning and very dark and put the camera on manual focus and blurred out the tree. You see I played with the image in Photoshop to come up with a few 6x8 pages for my album (I'm actually creating an album in January of all these pictures and journal entries from December).
Yesterday started to be about Christmas cards. I actually finished them by the fire in the morning before my kids were up. You know, I always stress about Christmas cards (will they be too late? Will I even have a picture good enough for them?), but when I sit down to address them, I love it. I'm a paper and pen girl, so it's quite relaxing to address 60 or so cards.
Another pretty bokeh image.
I just journaled right on the picture here. We'll see what it looks like when it's printed out. Which, by the way, my favorite place to order prints from is Persnickety Prints. They are a small business out of Utah, you can buy prepaid plans at a wholesale rate and their quality is amazing.
As I layed down last night and thought about what I really wanted to remember about yesterday, it was more about a few moments with the kids. I will note them down here so I don't forget:

1) The boys wrestling me to the ground by the fire and giggling uncontrollably because they've never wrestled mom before. Colin joined in.  "Losing" is laying there for a count to 10 in our house. I lost, but loved every minute.

2) I left for a couple of hours to shop for MAC makeup and Sissy was oddly clingy when I left. I was only gone for a couple hours and when I returned (after the kids had been tucked in), I heard a whisper, "Mama's home!"and they all came rushing down the stairs and engulfed me in little hugs. It was a sweet moment. I tucked them back in and relished the memory.

3) Samuel read a science page about animal mating. He had sex questions. So, even though we have gone over sex before, he had obviously forgotten. The three older kids and I went over it in detail, once again. I told them to direct questions like that to me. And then Samuel said, "I'm sure glad I'm not a girl, I don't want to have to lay all those eggs." (insert roars of laughter from the other two kids). Sigh. I'm glad I have the opportunity to teach my kids these things (not another friend or teacher), but honestly, it gets awkward sometimes.)
