December Daily - Day 19

Day 19 was all about The Nutcracker and Peacock Lane. I'm really doing what I can to cram as much Christmas into these last few days as possible. There are so many things we want to see! I didn't get one super beautiful or clear picture from yesterday, so apologies. These are mostly from my phone or really bad flash photography with my camera (I'm asking for a new camera for Christmas, because mine is definitely on the fritz).

Here are Sissy and I (and Barb) on the rooftop of a parking garage, getting ready to have lunch and then off to The Nutcracker. I love that you can see Barb's shadow taking the picture.
In the Nutcracker - she LOVED this performance! It didn't hurt that we were sitting in the second row. I've never seen this before and I loved every second! Who says it's just for kids! Barb enjoyed it as well.
We hastily looked for a lunch spot to eat and after sizing up a little sandwhich place, we strolled around some more and I found this wooden door with a  "Morton's Steakhouse" sign over the top. I though maybe they would have a decent sandwich menu. Well when we opened the menu after being seated, my eyes became like saucers. Apparently this is where the Blazers go to eat, so you can imagine the prices. I have to say, though, the experience really was amazing. The waitstaff was prompt and nice and literally cleaned up every crumb as soon as we made it. The food was good. The best part, though, was Sissy having her first Shirley Temple (pictured below). I also loved that she watched as Barb and I put our fancy black napkins on our lap and she did exactly the same. Oh, isn't it what a day out with your mother-in-law an daughter is all about?
Here she is before the show, leafing through the Nutcracker pamphlet.
And the head chef, before we left the restaurant, gave Sissy this hand carved "flower" made from a strawberry. Our waiter delivered it to her and she couldn't have been happier. I also have to say it was so refreshing to see all these little girls dressed up, eagerly walking to The Nutcracker. It's what childhood memories are made of.
Above was a our last minute trip to Peacock Lane last night. We headed out around 8 p.m. (we've been having late nights here lately) and the lights were really lovely. We were surprised by how many Star Wars light themes there were. I held hands with Sissy almost the whole time.
Below is the worst photo bomb. I had to include it. The older boys kept freaking over my flash in their eyes.
Sissy and her fake smile.
Sissy wanted to have a picture in front of Baby Jesus at Peacock Lane. It was literally a plastic doll. But look how happy she was!
