Picture Update

I can't believe it - I didn't take one Thanksgiving picture yesterday, but that's probably because we were on the go to various locations all day. However, I do have some random pics to post from the last few weeks. Sarah and I at the shower she threw for me.

Here's Jude after getting into my makeup - he did pretty good, don't you think? I think the blue eyeshadow compliments his eyes very well.

Samuel is hugging Jude here and Jude isn't loving it. As usual.

Here was Samuel on Halloween - he was a construction worker and loved it.

Jude was a lion and was surprisingly comatose the entire night.

I caught this scene on camera one morning - Samuel was applying powder to not only Jude's face, but my cabinets as well. Samuel and I spent some quality time together scrubbing those down.

Jude continued to play in the bathtub for 20 minutes after the water had emptied out. He was so happy not having to share all the toys for once!

Colin gave Samuel his earphone things from the fire station - I loved to hear the things he would command into the microphone part throughout the day.

My Entry into the Hall of Shame

When I received this month's issue of Bon Appetit, I fell in love with everything about the cake on the cover. What's not to love about FOUR layers of peppermint and chocolate? And why couldn't I make something like that? Well, this cake is very tall and very high maintenance. It took about four hours to make over the span of two days. Here is what it is supposed to look like:

I knew about the time I was adding the third layer and it began sliding off, I had a problem. Colin and I stood there laughing because I had poured so much time and effort into this and it wouldn't even stay together! I made some hasty notes on the recipe for next time (including using dowels to insert in the center and continue whipping the cream to make it more firm). Overall, though, it was pretty delicious, just an eyesore. Oh, did I mention I brought it to a family baby shower Sarah threw for me and the first guest to arrive looked at it and asked "What happened?" Ouch.

I'm Alive!!

Ok, for those of you who actually still check my blog after this long lag, please accept my apologies!! I am without a computer while my faithful computer guy is recovering all of my data (read: I get all my pictures back). I'll tell you what, I have never had to deal with a computer guy in the private sector before, but I know I have the best. So let me know if you need a recommendation. I am pretty surprised how much time I have on my hands now that I don't have email, Internet, a Palm Pilot, etc. I have actually finished a 550 page book (yep, I joined a book club and our first official meeting is tomorrow night). Don't get me wrong - I love the computer and while I have extra time without it, I also feel incredibly disconnected. So, I will sign off now (I'm on my friend's Sarah's computer) so I can do some quick blog stalking...and I will post some cute and random pics when my computer is returned.
