Memorial Day and Other Things

On Memorial Day, the boys went with Colin on one of his many trips to Home Depot and they came back with their faces painted. Samuel, of course, wanted to be Batman:
Sissy dressed as herself - in a diaper, helmet (have I mentioned that she walks around stores with this helmet on?), necklace and watch:
Jude got his face painted as Spiderman:
And Colin spent the remainder of the day in the nursery (it has just been completely remodeled) sanding/staining the floors:
I have implemented Bible time every morning as part of school. Samuel reads a Bible story of Jude's choosing - it really kills two birds with one stone - they get in the habit of devotion time and Samuel gets his reading practice in. He's reading from "The Beginner's Bible". It's the perfect reading level for Samuel and has enough pictures to keep Jude interested.

Beer and Bathroom.

The boys took a morning to rummage through the recycling bin outside and I found this: "We're selling beer! It's free!" Ugh. How embarrassing.
And the baby took a few moments late one night to help Colin tile the shower floor in our new bathroom. Couldn't you just squeeze those skinny little legs?!
Jude helped as well.

Samuel helping Colin smooth out the cement for the shower pan (way past bedtime, might I add!).
The mission style cabinets, custom built by Colin himself.

I apologize for the lack of blogging this last week - we have all been under the weather. Have I mentioned that I'm ready for the flu season to be over? It feels very lonely a lot of times being a stay-at-home mom with sick kids. At any rate, Colin has been making rapid progress with our bathroom remodel. This will be the main bathroom and he's built me everything exactly as I like - so sweet! I seem to have very simple, mission style taste.

This trip was many months in the making. I actually love making travel plans and this one was no exception. The difference here was that t...
